Listen to Mariana's Trench & The Table
Kate Heron is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist originally from Chicago, Illinois, now in Austin and has been a performing musician for over two decades. In the Austin scene she regularly performs her own music, and can also be found in a number of bands around town (Great Howl, Everett Wren Quartet, Ladybird Wildflower Sanctuary, and more).

She has bachelors degrees in both Vocal Performance and Audio Production. Kate is highly skilled at building sonic worlds with unexpected timbres/textures in her music because of her work as a film sound designer.
Vocally, she was originally trained as a coloratura soprano but, midway through her degree, shifted to focus on contemporary music for voice, and began to start writing original folk/alternative songs and fell in love with writing music and blended her sound design skills into musical setting.
Her sound is described as "mystical and beautifully haunting", "light but powerful", and "music with a voice that will leave you shook." which makes for a perfect pairing with her genre best summarized as: ethereal folk rock. Her inspiration derives from a variety of artists such as Florence Welch, Lucy Dacus, Julia Jacklin, and Mitski, and her sound combines the different elements in a way that draws people in the moment she starts to perform.
